The POWERMATIC^® 4224 Woodworking Machinery Lathe is a long and strong cast iron wood lathe designed for large bowl and spindle turning. It uses a 3-step, poly V-belt drive with three variable speed ranges: 0-910 RPM for heavy bowl work, 0-2,000 RPM for standard turning and 0-3,500 RPM for high speed spindle and finishing work. The spindle direction is reversible for outboard turning and a remote on/off switch magnetically attaches to any part of the lathe. An optional 65" Inboard Bed is available which brings the inboard between centers distance to 109". For long spindle turning, an optional 26" Double-Posted Tool Rest is used with a second inboard toolrest base. A 48" swing Outboard Turning Assembly is also available for free hanging open bowl and platter turning:
