You can get that same look, today, with composite resin/mica sheets that are easily cut with a fine tooth scrollsaw or handsaw.

Available in amber or silver mica, each sheet is 18" x 36" x 0.025" thick.

Sheets are moldable/bendable using indirect heat source - heat gun, heat tape or hot plate.
